Description: This layer contains all the states and provinces of Canada, the United States, and Mexico and the national boundaries of the other nations of North America. The data were downloaded from Natural Earth. The boundary of Montana was replaced with the Montana Spatial Data Infrastructure representation of the boundary and other boundaries that approach Montana were edited to be more correct. The Natural Earth data were not topologically correct. The polygons were brought into an ArcGIS topology which automatically corrected all lines that were within 5 meters of each other. The remaining gaps and overlaps were corrected by hand. Because the number of regions were larger than the symbolization tool in ArcGIS Online can handle (200), the sub regions of all the nations other than Canada, the US, and Mexico were merged to form national polygons.
